"Reducing to the essentials" requires a vast amount of directed research and development. To make this possible, one in four Emporia employees works in
research and development. Emporia owner, Albert Fellner, understands the
importance of this key area, which is why he personally heads up the research
team.
The design and ergonomics of the 50+ mobile phones, including the size of the
keys, key depression, the layout and operation, are based on the results of
empirical studies. But the difference between conventional mobile phones and
50+ phones is not always that obvious. Emporia sets its targets to excellence in
all areas, including research, which is why our attention to detail is so clear. All elements of the operation and handling of the mobile phone for the 50+
generation are as user friendly as possible. The display colour is optimised for
people suffering from cataract. A special font has been developed for optimum readability and the loudspeakers are hearing aid compatible, so there is no
acoustic feedback.
Emporia Telecom makes communication easy. The research department's
dedication to excellence however, leaves them very little time to take it easy themselves!
